What Exactly Is Rooted in Sound Academy Canada?
Rooted in Sound Academy Canada is a comprehensive, hands-on training program offering you the opportunity to learn from some of North America's leading teachers in the field of sound. After each class, you will walk away with hands on skills that you can put into your practice. Choose from two options: In Person or our Hybrid program.
The Foundational Diploma Program provides you with core content that includes 75 hours of in class learning, plus 44 hours of online learning hours. You then get to choose your area of specialization for an additional 24 hours of elective learning.
The Advanced Diploma Program requires you to continue your learning for an additional 40 hours of electives, specializing in an area of your choice. You may then apply for certification with the International Association of Sound Therapists.
How Do I Know If Rooted in Sound Academy Canada Is Right For Me?

Many schools charge an application fee; instead, we offer an introductory class. This allows you to experience our teaching style and determine if we’re a good fit for you.

Will I learn how to play the instruments?
- Rooted in Sound Academy Canada puts a wide variety of instruments in your hands, teaching you specific techniques to create the most effective sounds from each instrument. Once you complete your 135 hours of Core Module classes, you can then spend either an additional 24 hours or 64 hours focusing in greater detail how to play specific instruments of your choice. By taking the 24 hours of electives, you will graduate with the Foundational Diploma. WIth 64 hours of electives, you will graduate with The Advanced Diploma. You may then apply for certification with the International Association of Sound Therapists.,
- You will have the opportunity to engage in discussions and demonstrations of various instruments, with many opportunities to play a variety of instruments. You will receive guidance on specific techniques needed to produce the most effective sounds from each instrument.

Is your course live, online, or pre-recorded?
Rooted in Sound Academy Canada is a program utilizing a combination of In-person, Live Streaming and pre-recorded course material.
Within this structure , students have two options
- Attend 12 days of core classes In Person over 6 weekends OR
- Attend 6 days by Live Virtual learning and come to Canada for a 6 day Intensive In person training.
All students are also required to complete the following:
- Attend Prerequisite Class "Essence of Sound" to ensure that our program is the right fit for you, and to learn about the Essence of Sound.
- Watch several online educational videos and write a one page report for each video.
- Complete an intensive reading list and write a one page report about each book.
- Compete 30 Case Studies.
- Choose from a variety of Electives to complete your required hours (Each elective has it's own set fee, but most average around $350 for 8 hours) A variety of classes will be offered in person, Live Virtual and Streaming. While it is recommended to complete your electives during the year of 2006, exceptions can be made for students who need more time to complete their electives.
- Give and receive 3 sessions to up to 3 different teachers on staff. (Because we have a wide range of teachers who teach just one weekend a year for us, you will be responsible to pay each individual teacher for their time as per their rate schedule)

When will I find out the dates and content of my course?
- Rooted in Sound Academy Canada gives you a complete list of all the subjects that you will be learning, including course descriptions, objectives and information about your teacher. You can follow the links here see all the dates and details for in-person option and the Hybrid option.
- In other courses, you sometimes receive your dates and details after payment has been made.
Verify the details of your learning experience, including the schedule before making a financial investment in yourself.
Can I take elective courses before committing for the full course?
- Absolutely, YES! Elective courses are open to everyone, even people who are not registered in the Diploma program.
- If you do take electives, they can be applied towards your diploma in future.
Start part-time with electives, or full time with our core essentials program.
Do I need to complete my course by a certain date?
- At the Rooted in Sound Academy Canada, there is no required end date.
- Core courses must be attended on the specific dates they are offered.
- Electives and assigned course work can be completed at your own pace.
- You will graduate when you submit all of your assignments.
At the Rooted in Sound Academy Canada, we understand that responsibilities of our daily lives can interfere with our plans for learning. With that in mind, we have not set a hard date for completion, thus ensuring student graduation with ease and success.
What is my Investment for Rooted in Sound Academy?

- Pre-Requesite Essence of Sound $350 CAD
- Rooted in Sound Academy's core program is $6,900 CAD.
- 24 hours of electives of your choice is approximately $1050 (Three 8 hour classes at average price of $350/class)
Your estimated investment for the Foundational Diploma Program including your 24 hours of electives is around $8300 CAD plus fees for books that are available on line.
Instalment plans are available on request.
