Hand Washing & Drying Instructions

What You'll Need

• A basin or clean sink
• Lukewarm water (never hot)
• A wool/cashmere wash or mild baby shampoo (no regular detergent)
• Two clean, dry towels

Washing Steps

• Fill the basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of wool wash — just enough to make the water feel silky, not sudsy.
• Submerge the fabric and gently press the water through it. Do not rub, twist, or agitate the fibers.
• Let it soak for 10–15 minutes.
• Drain the soapy water and refill with clean lukewarm water to rinse. Repeat until no soap remains.
• Press out excess water gently with your hands — never wring or twist.

Drying Steps

• Lay the fabric flat on a clean towel.
• Roll the towel up with the shawl inside and press firmly to blot out remaining moisture.
• Unroll and lay the fabric flat on a fresh, dry towel, away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Gently reshape to its original dimensions while damp.
• Let air dry completely, flat, before wearing, folding, or storing (this can take 24 hours or more).
• Avoid: hanging cashmere to dry (it stretches under its own weight), using a washing machine or dryer, wringing, hot water, direct sun, or standard laundry detergent.

Storage Tips

• Fold — never hang — to preserve shape.
• Store in a breathable cotton bag, not plastic.
• Add cedar balls or lavender sachets to deter moths.
• Make sure the fabric is completely dry before folding and storing, to prevent mildew.
• Cashmere is a natural, delicate fiber — gentle handling keeps it soft and beautiful for years.
